Why We Built This Site
When Shady started researching his own protein intake after leaving the military, he found the same problem everywhere: generic calculators with no explanation, blog posts full of contradictions, and supplement brands pushing products disguised as advice.
He spent months studying research from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN), and peer-reviewed studies indexed on PubMed. Then he built the tools he wished had existed — calculators that are transparent about their formulas, backed by real science, and free to use.
CalculatorProtein.com launched with one goal: to be the most accurate, most trustworthy protein calculator resource on the internet.
What Makes Our Calculators Different
Most protein calculators online use a single formula for everyone. Ours are built differently. Each calculator accounts for the factors that actually matter:
- Body weight and composition — not just total weight, but lean mass where relevant
- Activity level — sedentary, lightly active, athlete, or competitive bodybuilder
- Specific goal — muscle gain, fat loss, weight maintenance, or general health
- Age and gender — protein needs shift significantly across life stages
- Special conditions — pregnancy, senior health, vegetarian and vegan diets
Every result comes with a plain-English explanation of what the number means and how to reach it through real food — not just supplements.
